VICTORY MUSEUM MOSCOW

I booked a cheap flight to Moscow and then spent almost as much money on getting a visa. I hadn’t really thought about the date but when I went to the Kremlin on the 22nd of June I found it closed for the anniversary of the start of Operation Barbarossa – the Nazi invasion of Russia. In the streets I saw the veterans of the Red Army. Amazing. The war is massively important for a country that lost around 20 million people. The Victory Museum (or Museum of the Great Patriotic War) is also a memorial and many come here to pay their respects. Great collection of tanks, including some of the Shermans sent to Russia.
