WW2 MONTE CASSINO

The beautifully rebuilt Abbey shows few signs of the four month long battle that took place here. The Abbey  looks out over the Liri Valley – the main route to Rome.  The Allies suffered around 55,000 casualties in the Battle of Monte Cassino.
