WW2 MONTE CASSINO

The beautifully rebuilt Abbey shows few signs of the four month long battle that took place here. The Abbey  looks out over the Liri Valley – the main route to Rome. We visit the Abbey before paying our respects at the Polish and Commonwealth cemeteries. The Allies suffered around 55,000 casualties in the Battle of Monte Cassino.
