WW2 ANZIO NETTUNO

On January 22nd 1944 Anzio/Nettuno was the site of a daring attempt to outflank the Gustav line centred on Monte Cassino. For four months the allies were contained in the beach head before finally breaking out. In Nettuno there are nearly eight thousand Americans buried at the Sicily Rome American Cemetery.
